Beckham 'to quit playing in 2008TBH, I thought he'd given up playing one game into the World Cup!
Unless of course you count "hanging around the wing waiting for someone to land the ball right at your feet, and taking 2 set piece kicks per match" as "playing". ;)
Can't doubt the guys ability before then though, he just didn't seem to have the drive this year IMVHO.

the guy had awsome long range passing and could take a nice free kick in his prime. he will always he remembered for that half way line lob against wimbledon. i agree, he should have never left utd. hasnt been as good at real madrid.

for all his perceived good or bad points he had a talent ,did well for himself and didnt piss it up against a wall, doesnt beat his wife up , doesnt do dogging , drugs, etc etc and he wasnt what i would call a dirty player fair play to him i say
a decent role model

yeah to say the worst thing hey ever did was lamely flick a leg at an argie in a match he's a damn good role model. He's also clever enough to know how media works or clever enough to employ damn good media people, and has made a good fortune out of his talent and his wifes lack of it ;)
