Right, I have an old Dell which I am setting up as a server, as some of you know. There isn't a great deal of capacity to increase the number of HDDs as there is no cage to hold them, although there is plenty of space. I've Googled for generic HDD cages that I could then modify to fit but I've not been able to find anything. Can anyone offer any suggestions? I'm not really in a position to make one myself as I have no tools and no space to do any DIY work.

you should be able to get drive rails fairly cheaply that allow you to use any 5 1/4 inch device.

Won't give me enough capacity unless I remove the current cd/dvd drives, which I don't really want to do.

Will it not be more easy/cheap to get a used case that has the capacity?

Dell custom make their cases, boards and psus so it wouldn't be a straight swap, unfortunately.

Get an external one??
Does it have a USB 2 connector, or maybe use a networked HD. Many options, maybe place the HD outside the case and use long connectors! Or just get one huuuge disk to replace the one already in there!

I know it sounds picky but I really want to be able to have the hard drives inside the case and I already have a number of HDDs which I want to put in there so to buy one big one, although an option, is an expense that I want to avoid.

the easy option is a lian li hdd cage, holds 5 drives vertically. the other easy option is the lian li add in 2-3 convertor. it converts 2 5.25 bays into 3 hdd slots. http://www.kustompcs.co.uk/acatalog/Kustom_PCs_Shop_Adapters_and_Bay_Fittings_28.html# a3862

Cheers Slam. I think I am just going to have to sacrifice the big bays for the sake of storage. :)
Right, any recommendations on a pci 4 port sata card?
