My mate has a 2 year old Hansol monitor 17" and whenever he is on it his cheeks go red!! Could this be the emissions from the Monitor? Would this happen if he bought an LCD. I told him it could cause him long term health problems!!

well it certainly doesnt sound like its gonna be doing him any good, but dunno if its causing him any harm, tell him to get the arianet 17" TFT for £140, they're a complete bargain

I haven't a clue what it is, but it sounds a bit scary to me. Hansol are bottom end monitors so maybe theres a problem with it? Does he have the same reaction in front of other monitors? I'd give that a go first, if he doesn't then dump the Hansol quick sharp.

Yes. i think it does happen with the other monitor he uses, that is an older CRT. Are LCD better when it comes to health matters?

well i dunno, i know they use less power, and use transistors instead of cathode ray tubes but thats it

Hmmmm..... I'm not qualified to state any kind of opinion but I would take a stab in the dark by saying perhaps there's nothing wrong with the monitor but it's his body is having difficulty coping with something like motion sickness, eyestrain... I dunno! :)

another odd fact about me, one of the older version of rainbow six, gave me motion sickness and terrible migraines, to this day i dont know why, might have been sommat todo with low fps, i got it a little with red faction and the origional HL

I seem to remember that HL had an odd way of refreshing the screen, meaning that occasionally, the top half of the screen wouldn't always be aligned with the bottom half, maybe summink to do wid dat?
As for rainbow, well I was a fan from Rogue Spear onwards and I always remember having my face practically against my CRT monitor trying to work out if that pixel was a sniper or something else :)
