Yey, it's finally working! Apologies for the slightly naff picture quality in some piccies, this camera was the latest thing... in 1999 :D

Specs:

Epia 5000 Mini-Itx Mobo
128mb PC133
Netgear 802.11g
IBM 90W PSU
Seagate 20gig HDD (from the same range as the ones you find in xboxs...!)

Mmmmm, hardcore!

Desk shot. Ultimately, this puppy won't need a keyboard and moose once the software side is done. (Running Clarkconnect 3.1 btw :) )

Let's take a closer look...

Ahhhh! My eyes!! :D

No fans on this processor :D Not much faster than a Pentium 200 though...

The only fan in the system. Some interesting bodging took place to mount that hard drive.

Well, it's not the cleanest job I've ever done but hey, you can't see it! :D

It looks stunning in the dark, this shot doesn't really do the box justice :trrg_1:

As for what I'm going to use it for, I'm hoping to use it mainly as a file sharing server and a way to get 'net access on my laptop next year in the house. I hope this inspires you to get your dremels out! :D

EDIT: Slam, I can't "display" more than 2 pics (hence the links), can I beg you to increase the limit please? Cheers :)

ahh.. found the reason....

it counts smilies as images and gives them priority as they are the smaller files and hosted locally. your post count was 15 images which is why it bombed on you. i have disabled the image limit completely but it will come back if we get a millin smilies in a post etc....

Very nicely done.

It's great to see some real mods on the board from time to time. :)

I've never opened up an xbox before, are there any parts of salvagable value in there? (psu etc) or are they all customised M$ versions?

Just a thought, why not mount (read: hot glue) a motherboard blanking plate in there to go with your epia? Not sure if you can get hold of epia sized ones but worth a look, and will neaten up the back nicely :)

Cheers guys for the nice comments!

Neither have I :hehe: It was an empty case off eBay - The mountings don't appear to be ATX standard though. As for all the other bits, no idea I'm afraid :shifty:

Aye, that would be a plan and a half but unfortunately, I've never seen one for sale :( They are the same size as normal ones but all the connectors are in unusual places sadly

Aren't those P4 'boards quite expensive? I guess it depends on what features are on it :)

lol tbh.. I am just pricing things up at the mo. Not sure if a 500mhz eden will have enough poke on it to run Stepmania :|

How about something like this (http://www.mini-itx.com/store/?c=444#p1628)? You should be able to find it somewhere for alot cheaper than that...
